Janine Haver, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and opened practice at OPEN SKY in August of 2009.  I have experience with individuals, couples and family therapy.  In my work I place an emphasis on family system theory.  This theory views the family as an emotional unit and uses systems thinking as a way to describe the complex interactions in the family unit.  Knowledge of how the emotional systems works in one’s family can also be used to understand the emotional systems in one’s work place and social systems, and reveal new and more effective options to solve problems in each of these areas.  I also incorporate pieces of other theoretical perspectives into my overall perspective of viewing problems and solutions.  I possess a strength in areas pertaining to women’s needs, couples treatment, and parenting issues. 

I have been a lifelong resident of Northern New York and was a dairy farmer for over 20 years.  I am a graduate of the School of Social Work at Syracuse University and have worked for Lewis County Community Mental Health Center since 2002. 

I believe that wellness is the result of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, intrapersonal, interpersonal and occupational health.  Having my practice at OPEN SKY allows me to work in an environment that fosters growth and exploration of the interconnectedness of these various aspects of life and promotes health and wellness that benefits the whole being. 

My office is open business on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, and will include Wednesdays starting in January 2010.  I accept most private insurances and Medicare, but will not be accepting Medicaid.
